This performance begins with an improvised set: a cabaret stage, lights, a clothesline to hang the screen where short films and shadows will be projected, and makeshift backstage areas built from tent fabric. Like a small circus, a troupe of eccentric characters entertains the audience with a handcrafted and joyful “K-barré”.
As in every cabaret, the programme is a puzzle assembled and disassembled through Turak’s eccentric, visual, musical, and poetic language. There’s tango dancing, singing, drawing, film projections — music plays a central role. Everything is in plain sight, and anything goes. The childlike souls of the Turakians revel in make-believe, letting themselves be carried away by laughter and the surprise of the moment. A playful treat for all audiences.
