At the first gathering of Books to Eat, writer Afonso Cruz and theatre director Giacomo Scalisi present the books selected for this year’s edition, launching the literary gastronomic club. The first book to be cooked is also introduced: The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera. The session then continues in the kitchen, in a first rehearsal of the Books to Eat format, offering a taste of the relationship between literature, territory and cooking that will run through the entire cycle.
Books to Eat brings together literature and cooking, transforming the reading of books into culinary experiences shared around the table. Across several gatherings at EscolaNova, each book is introduced and read by participants between sessions, and then explored in the kitchen through its atmosphere, bringing together thought, creation and conviviality.
