A woman is appointed by the health ministry to show schoolchildren that food can be healthy and delicious. It's her first day on the job and her mission is to prepare soup in the classroom for everyone.
She has everything she needs to fulfill this mission – kitchen tools and fresh vegetables – but finds the recipe she was given dull. She decides to make soup with other ingredients, each of which reminds her of her childhood in a war-torn country she fled from some time ago. When making the soup, the vegetables and the aromas bring back memories: stories about her family, about the war and about a sow named Sonia, whom she was very fond of...
Soup'alapatate (Potato Soup) is a contemporary performance about war and loss, hunger and the virtues of a delicious soup. The show focuses on the pleasure of narration and the pleasure of eating together.
